Scissor Lift Training at our training centre

We recently carried out Scissor Lift training at our training centre near Banbury on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.  Our Scissor Lift is a Genie GS2632 and lifts to a working height of 9 metres.

Scissor lifts and articulated boom lifts (Cherry Pickers) are widely used in construction because they give safe and easy access to any part of the building.  They are also used in factories and warehousing to give access for maintenance, installations and cleaning, etc.

We can provide Scissor Lift training on our site or on customer premises. The course durations are as follows:

Novice course (for candidates with no prior training and experience) – for up to 3 candidates the course will be 1 day.

Refresher course (for candidates with previous training in last 5 years) – we can take a maximum of 4 candidates in 1 day (for example, two sessions with two candidates per session).

Other courses, such as Basic/Experienced and Conversion from another type of Mobile Elevating Work Platform can be completed in one day (for a maximum of 3 candidates).

Please contact us at Stackers Training on 0800 024 8084 for more information.

Training in April

Our instructors have been very busy training in various locations during the first part of this month.  James has spent over a week training in Eastbourne on the counterbalance and combi lift trucks.  He managed to get these great photos last weekend.

We have also had courses running at our training centre on reach and counterbalance trucks and we have been training on customer premises in Banbury, Didcot, Marlow and Norwich.

This weekend (Good Friday and Easter Saturday), we have training courses booked on the scissor lift at our training centre.

We would like to wish all of our customers and trainees a very Happy Easter.

What do lift truck operators really think of their job

Talent in Logistics partnered with UKMHA (UK Material Handling Association) has surveyed hundreds of existing forklift truck operators.  The survey asked how they felt about their role and what could be done to make warehousing careers more appealing.  The results provide valuable insights that will help employers attract and retain employees, especially female operators and workers from a younger demographic.  This is particularly pertinent as the warehousing and logistics industries continue to face a skills shortage crisis.

Managing and Supervising Material Handling Equipment Operations

We can now offer an RTITB accredited course on Managing and Supervising Material Handling Equipment Operations which enables managers and supervisors to identify their responsibilities regarding MHE operations. This will cover all types of trucks, eg, counterbalance, reach, pedestrian stackers, pivot steer, etc.

This one day course, for a maximum of 8 people, will be held on customer premises and will enable managers and supervisors to identify and apply steps to minimise risks related to MHE in the workplace. Successful completion of the course will require candidates to complete a theory test and hazard perception test.

Attending this course will ensure that companies are compliant with the legal requirements in the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).  The requirement of PUWER is “Every employer shall ensure that any of his employees who supervises or manages the use of work equipment has received adequate training for purposes of health and safety, including training in the methods which may be adopted when using the work equipment, any risks which such use may entail and precautions to be taken.”
